Laguiole Black Horn Tip Steak Knife Set
Opened in 1987, the Forge de Laguiole workshop was the culmination of a project created by a group of enthusiasts, including politicians and local business people, to reinstate the manufacture of Laguiole knives in the village of Laguiole where the knives were first invented in the early 1800's. Every stage of the knife manufacture is now carried out again in its place of origin. The making of Laguiole knives has returned to Laguiole.
The Art Of Being Unique - Each knife takes several hours or even days to create. Over 40 successive steps are needed to achieve just one. The quality of its finish, the strength of the blade and its spring, the thickness of its bolsters and plates, as well as the accuracy of its calibration are the elements that contribute to its lifespan. Forge de Laguiole integrates all these manufacturing steps. The blades and other components are forged in the village of Laguiole, France. Each model is assembled and shaped by the same cutler to assure accountability and pride of ownership of the final piece. The lines of the knife must respect the general profile determined by the Laguiole cutlers of the nineteenth century and today those same lines inspires many designers. Forge de Laguiole offers several types of forged steels to please aficionados of traditional Laguiole style as well modern knives. Carbon steel is the oldest, appreciated by collectors, it has a perfect edge and seasoned gracefully by changing colors and patina. The new T12 steel is unalterable, it retains its luster and sharpness over the years.
Forge de Laguiole represent the pinnacle of quality in the Laguiole cutlery business. Their reputation for integrity, ethics, and innovative designs has made this small 100 employees company the "Must Have" Laguiole luxury brand.
